SILVER has been on a tear since the NYP report came out. It has moved up another 63c this morning to $19.13. Could the SILVER manipulation be OVER!!

i think it refers to the NY Post newspaper article on JPM being investigated for antitrust violations in the manipulation of silver prices. |

Miners are lagging so there is still some room to make a play on this run up. I reconfigured my holdings last Thurs (out of financials into more miners), So Glad I did.

| i have been watching silver a couple times a day for a few years now. every once in a while it jumps up like this. then they'll bring it back down. ted butler explains this as a game in the futures market and the fact that certain investors are momentum players and therefore very predictable and also very leveraged. |

I'm hoping with all the attention being placed on the JPM futures trading right now, the short money will be afraid to move into this SILVER move. This gap up could be extraordinary and SILVER could move substantially higher.  Like $1000 GOLD, SILVER below $20 could be a thing of the past.

They were still pretty nervy on options expiry last month, even after the exposure from Andrew McGuire... I suspect they will let this rally run a bit... but they aren't done yet. Make sure you have an exit strategy in place if you are playing mining equities, and pull some profits as you go and plan to buy back in on further weakness  |

I'm not so sure we will see any sustainable dip this time. Sovereign banks and BIG MONEY is starting to look at PMs seriously right now. While I'm always the optimist, I think we are on the cusp of REAL BIG MOVE in PMs. The flight to safety money is beginning to move to GOLD and other PMs. JPM is frozen out by the FED investigations too. If it's the BIG BREAKOUT, the move higher will happen quickly as speculators sense opportunity to cause a SHORT SQUEEZE in the small GOLD and SILVER market. |

There is no doubt that the general direction is up. Any tradeable thing will have a market low price and a market high price. The path to get to these points is never a straight line. I liken the path to following the location of a Yo-Yo as the person playing with it walks up or down stairs. The general direction (up or down) is easy enough to figure out, but the independent movement of the Yo-Yo is variable.
What we are seeing in PM's now is simply the upward movement of the Yo-Yo while the commodity bull walks up the staircase.
My target assumption for year end 2010 is silver price anywhere between $19 at the low and $25.50 for the high... it just depends on where that Yo-Yo is at that point in time. I could care less what it does today, tomorrow, or even next week. In the big picture, it means little. |
