Opened a box of halves today and two of the end roll coins were 40%. Maybe the reason they slipped by others is that they're incredibly tarnished/dirty/discolored with even a bit of greenish corrosion. But... they're still silver, so "welcome to the clan, Boys!" The box turned out half decent, 9 - 40% and some kind of Peruvian sesquicentennial commemorative half
A nice find. I have been using a Goddards silver polish cloth to clean some of my silver coins, I know I probably shouldn't but it worked a treat on some lightly tarnished coins.
I have a theory that because so many people are now searching for bright silver, only the tarnished survive, slowly evolving into a species of dark surfaced coins.
