I have sorted my pocket change for years but just started sorting boxes this past year. I have noticed that not all boxes are the same and some pay off better than others. In my quest to try and train my bank tellers on what to get when they go to the vault, I wanted to get some input from the forum. Which boxes are these and which pay out better? I think the top one is a Brinks but have no real knowledge on any of them.

the top and bottom ones are brinks, not sure what the middles ones are, though, but they don't look like brinks to me |
want more copper pennies? I am selling them for $1.25 per roll plus $2 shipping for the first roll and 50 cents shipping for each roll thereafter |

To be honest, I sometimes get the middle box and I haven't had as much luck with those. The middle box is usually tight paper wrapped and a pain in the butt to open. The top box is always plastic wrapped rolls. I don't usually see the bottom one. |

The middle box looks like N.F. String rolls (I've never seen the other 2) |

It really has been a coin flip most of the time. I have seen the NF strings a little wheat heavy at times.

Good info all the way around, thanks and keep it coming. The bottom box has been where 90 percent of the new pennies come to me in. It's crap shoot when they hand over a sealed box. |

Just be thankful they are willing to give you boxes at all. I wouldn't start requesting certain ones. They aren't going to stand in the vault and sort through them for you, if you get too picky they will just cut you off. |

By the way…. Back too topic….I only have access to string boxes and they often have a variance. 18-30% Cu , 5-30 wheats, 3-20 canadians, and a host of other neat altered/error cents.
Would love to try out some other boxes sometime.

Can't say about the top box, never seen them in my area. The bottom box as already mentioned is Brinks. The middle box is N.F. String and Sons, used by Coin Wrap Inc. in my area.
As for training your tellers, they are only gonna have one type, depending on who their coin supplier is.
I did some heavy hand sorting for 2 years. I have never seen a difference in overall percentages in my parts between the different companies. Same thing with the ratio of Canadians and wheats.
For the quantity of pennies that get circulated, and re-circulated in a general area, I don't think there could be an overall difference. Unless one company were shipping them in from another state. Any variance your seeing is normal, percentages fluctuate a bit and will happen with either company.

I have gotten the middle box from Wells Fargo. For me these have mostly been the new coins. |
Silver Monometalism is the most permanent and stable form of money the world has seen. Natural law and history prove silver value is best multiplied by gold and best divided by copper. It is only in this counterfeit currency time when the natural law appears suspended. |

I have gotten all 3 ty[es of boxes out here in CA. The top one is used by Brinks out here. The middle one is make by N.F. String & Son and used by various coin processing companies. The bottom one is the most common type out here and is usually used by Loomis.
Trying to pick which type of box is going to give you the best yield is like trying to pick which slot machine at the casino is going to give you the best yield. Also depends on if you want copper pennies, or brand new shiny zinc ones. I am happy either way. Best approach.. since you have a bunch of "Free Play" tokens, is to get as many boxes of all types as you can. You can't have too many boxes.. though someone might try to convince you otherwise. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available. |
