As far as I know, there isn't really.
I'd buy it from you if shipping wasn't involved. I don't want to be a part of a shipping 'acident/contaminetion'. |

I still have some as well, now that I think about it. Shipping is possible I believe, but would require specialty packing and labeling. (I'm certified in HazMat shipping) I'll look up what it would take. |
Are you throwing that out? |

I got this years ago from a bunch of stuff my step Dad had when he passed. I stuck it back and forgot about it. Now I am in the process of getting rid of stuff so when I check out no one has metric tons of stuff to deal with, and ran on to the Mercury.

Dear Oldpagan,
Please do yourself a huge favor and research some of the recently enacted laws regarding mercury. In the last ten years, it has truly gained the attention of law makers and those who give out huge fines.
There was a time when science teachers would put some on the floor of their classrooms and tell the students to try and figure out how to pick it up ... But those days are long gone. Mercury in a school today is definitely a no-no, and can bring on huge fines, and in cases where someone knew about it and kept their mouth shut ... the lack of job security.
Please seriously consider contacting your local EPA and explaining to them the situation. They are much easier to work with if you go to them, rather than they coming to you.
Respectfully, |

And yet the same government is in the process of mandating that CFL's, which contains Mercury, to replace incandescent light bulbs...
All things considered, it probably would be best to just get rid of it through proper channels as FHSP mentioned. I would do it autonomously, because if they get your identity, they will want to inspect the building you found it in, of course at your expense. And them medically screen you and your family, again at your expense.
And once that door gets opened, who knows what other government department will start minding your business. If they found out you knowingly had it in you're possession for any length of time, they will try and bust you for child endangerment (if you have kids). It just goes on and on...

Thanks for the heads up, I have read some on the net but didn't know if it was still used and had any worth (didn't want to dispose of something that might bring a few bucks that could be turned into silver or gold).

As far as I know it can still be bought in the carb sync tools. Mine came in a little bottle. It can legally be shipped as a Class 8, and up to 35 litres can go on passenger aircraft, so no real issue for shipping with proper packaging and labeling. |
