For silver and gold, own bullion and store it in a self-storage facility. When the government comes looking for your precious metals, it'll look in the banks... Not a locked shed off the interstate.

A very, very bad idea:

No matter where you store something, or hide it... it is subject to theft. I would think that the surveillance systems and electronic gates would deter more would-be thieves than merely lights going on and off in a house or apartment, or the presence or absence of cars in the driveway or barking dogs in a yard. But bank safe deposit boxes are subject to confiscation too... so what do ya do if you have large amounts of precious metals to store? What's the answer?

I think the answer is to make things as inconspicuous and inconvenient as possible for thieves:

I still vote hiding your PMs in the flowerbeds and gardens about 2-4 feet deep.

I wish I had enough to get some oil at the moment. I bet with this spill, the shutdowns, and the resulting environmental taxes and issues from the spill, I just bet oil is going to skyrocket.

He created it. He controls it. He gave it to us for His use. Why did we turn from sound scriptural currency that PROTECTS us?

Yep, the tried and proven, time tested method of direct burial is the best.
