Well I am back to work today after a 6 day vacation flat on my back. Glad ???? to be back.

I had a little hospital stay last tuesday that was planned for a few months ago. Just a hernia, nothing too serious. But I did get my self enough to read for the last few days. One of the books I read was "WOODEN NICKELS The decline and fall of silver coins" It was written in 1966 and was very interesting. Parts were way over my head, parts was boring (lots of statistics) and some parts hit home. It could have been written today. It deals with coin collectors, silver hoarding, the U.S.mint and how the government lied or misled the public about silver coins. (sound familier????) I reccommend this book and I found some copies at amazon starting at 36¢ (yes it is old and out of print) It also mentiond copper and what will happen if it ever reaches face value.

P.S. The U.S. Mint did not like coin collectors or vending machine operators in the middle 60s. We were blamed for the loss of silver coins.

P.P.S. The worst part of the surgery no heavy lifting, not even a box of cents, for one month. My wife bought me $100 in nickels last wed. Only 18 keepers, one war nick, 3 1939 nicks and some from the 40s.
