Good deal for the gun shop owner. Most clean once fired sell for about .10-.20 each with some rounds selling as much as .50 or even 1.00. The more expensive brass will likely be picked up and reloaded. Try sorting by calibur and make and find another buyer. They may even be worth there weight in gold if the proverbial SHTF. Brass is becoming hard to come by and prices will continue to climb as more people start reloading. |

Correct.

Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. If anyone is looking for anything let me know, I will be only keeping .40 .223 and .308. That leaves a mess of .38 (actually pretty rare) 9mm and .45 |

I'll echo what other posters have said - save and sort it by caliber. Bag them up in ziploc freezer bags and profit. There are hundreds of gun and shooting forums out there, as well as local shooters and reloaders, Craiglist, etc. You have lots of options and will have no problem selling reloadable brass.
I pick everything from the range up as well, however I only save 5.56mm for myself. The rest I resell or trade. Good luck with it. |

IC. Guess I'll collect .22 for scrap. So much of it at the local range.
I read this thread and stopped by the range that is on my way in town. Didn't think there would be any brass. Ended up picking up a ton of 9mm, 223, 40, 45 and a couple other caliber's I'm not familiar with. Some was bright and shiny. A lot looked like it had been there for a while. Tons of green or copper-colored steel (7.62x39 and a larger caliber) and aluminum (mostly .40) casings as well. Not sure if the older looking brass is still good for reloading. Any thoughts?
The big surprise was how much live ammo was laying around. Mostly .22 (hundreds), but also some 9mm and .40. |

Where are these ranges that allow you to come in and just pick up brass? Around here (DFW) they just barely let you pick up your own.

The 7.62x39 green should not be reloadable, I think Its wolf Military and berdan primed. The .40 may not be Aluminum but may be nickel and if it is should be okay for reloading. The Older looking stuff may be okay, you would have to clean it up and inspect it for cracks or damage. Ive though about ways to sift the dirt and then even save the .22 for scrap, also when they replaced all the backstops (dirt) at the local ranges I was dying to get that for the 40+ years of lead they took out :( |
