I would like to know where you guys find places that will sell you boxes of coins? I cannot get the armored car service to sell me anything and real hard to bet any from the banks. I am about to give up on my new hobby.

You have to start with the banks and credit union. Begin by asking for rolls first before going to boxes. It's a curve we all have to learn.

So you have actually asked the armoured services to bring you a box? Persistance is the key here.

Don't give up jimecol! It is really a fun hobby (although addictive) and imho it grows in importance daily. Whether you start with copper, nickel, silver, or gold, it will give you an edge over about 90% of the sheeple in this country. I like this forum so much better than Silverseek. Everyone here seems so laid back and eager to help each other with questions. It is a lot less intimidating.

Does anyone here get coin directly from an amored service company? I was not aware that was an option.
Jimecol, I suggest you ask every branch of every bank in your area. You will find some more accomodating than others. Same bank company, one branch will tell you it is a bank wide policy that they don't provide coins, while just a mile away another branch of the same bank is more than happy to help. Sometimes when the manager changes, a branch that was a reliable source will suddenly tell you they can no longer provide box/bags, or only once per month. I take what I can get when I can. And I never argue with them. I have had 2 branches tell me that there was a fee for the boxes; I said fine, and continued to order them, and after a few weeks of mailing me (???) hard copies of the transaction paper-work, it just got too difficult for them, and they quit mentioning the fee. Don't neglect small regional banks. The tellers in there always look bored, and they are as cooperative as their small size allows. But I sincerely warn you, as TheSilverTiger said, this "hobby" can be very addictive. And half dollars are clearly just a gateway coin that leads down a darkened path that will leave you surrounded by boxes of nickles, pennies, dimes, and quarters. I can't really say if friends will shun you, as I never had any, but I know my kids are disgusted with my addiction. |

I completely agree with rainsonme's statement. Addiction is the key term. Everyone has one, you just have to have your niche. Once the "Coin Monster" gets ahold of you, it's all over. You have to then feed the addiction. Ha!
