Are coins such as Australia and New Zealand, that are of the same style as British coins of the 30s and 40s, the same silver content as their British counterparts?

No. Most Australian ones were .925 until 1946. Many of the UK ones went .500 in the 30's.

Pre-'20 sterling coins from the U.K. have the same specs as pre-'47 sterling Aussie coins.

1920 thru '46 U.K., 1933 thru '46 New Zealand and 1947 thru '64 Aussie coins are all .500 fine and have the same specs.

The only stupid questions are the ones you don't ask. Just a few short months ago I was asking what a CWR is, and that's one of the most common abbreviations on this site...
