I've been mostly into silver lately, but rising copper prices have me considering hoarding pennies. I have a few newbie questions that I haven't been able to find the answer for yet.
Most importantly: where to sell? The most obvious place to me seemed like eBay but I did some searches there and could not really find anyone selling pre-82 pennies in bulk to see what the price is like. And melting is banned so...?
Also, do you guys keep all of your pennies regardless, since rising zinc prices may very well make current cents worth more than .01?
Thanks for your time.

Quick and to the point: You don't really hoard pennies to sell quick. They ARE on eBay. Why buy them at inflated prices when you can buy penny boxes and sort yourself. Melting ban in effect. Not really a get rich quick scheme. Some keep all pennies. Most of our problems arise from dumping our zincs. Zinc is on the rise though....

p.s. Gotta love the Ag....Au doing great for me too!
I'm so sick over pennies....I frequently trade a dime or two for the whole "take-a-penny" container if sufficient coppers exist. That will get you some odd looks. |

Welcome, jorhyne.
There aren't too many places to sell as yet, but most people who hoard pennies are speculating that in the future there will be buyers. Gresham's Law is on our side, but only time will tell.
Whenever I'm on ebay, I always do a search for "below melt" or some variation thereof. Copper pennies sometimes come up.
And as far as I know, most of the members on this forum do not hoard the zinc rejects.
happy hoarding!
