What do you do when you are short in your rolls?
I was shorted $3.64 this week on $130 of penny rolls. I was really upset me to the point of seeing yellowed. The pennies came from a company fund drive for the United Way. Several of the rolls were 4-5 cents short. I went ahead and counted the shortage as a donation to United Way, but told the person who did the rolls they were either incompetent or dishonest.

| That happens to me when I buy dime rolls and more than likely with penny rolls, but I dont reroll those to the bank to take notice. I count shorted change as a 'loss' as you cant go to a bank and say that you got shorted .30 by their rolls. But if you short rolls when you return them, the bank is real quick to deduct that from your account and print out a statement saying they took .03 out (prob cost more to print the paper to say that). |

I have had it happen a few times and just consider it a cost of getting rolls. I occasionally get long rolls too. Even machine wrapped are occasionally a coin short. I figure I make up for it with all the dimes I get in my penny rolls. What I do now is I pay attention when they are giving me rolls at the teller window and hand back obvious short rolls right there.. especially when it is dimes and nickels. One thing I have thought of doing is taking my digital scale in with me and weigh the rolls right there, but that would only work for smaller amounts of rolls.
If your percentages are low.. just sort more.

I bought 30 bricks of nickels from the bank and just for the hell of it opened one of them and then three rolls at random...... found five foreign coins from Africa, Canada, Mexico, S. Africa and the UK.
Only God knows what is in the rest of them.

I think stray dimes cover the short rolls, 29 so far. I have only been sorting for a short time.
Also, got 98 wheats last night from about $100 in cents. |

Just a one word suggestion, punctuation....hehe. Very hard reading.
Deal
I'm so sick over pennies....I frequently trade a dime or two for the whole "take-a-penny" container if sufficient coppers exist. That will get you some odd looks. |
