I dont know if this is true or not, but I read somewhere on the internet that there is a miniscule platnium chip inside each "series 2004" $20 bill. The article said if you put one in a microwave, the bill would explode. I never tried it, so I cant vouch for this.

Too bad, at least then $20 bills would be backed by platnium.

Don't be silly, Moboman, why would the government start backing FRNs with metal at this point?

Well, it's just how I feel. Sometimes once I get started....hehe. Thanks for the support.

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

You tend to assume that "confiscation" means soldiers invading your home to take your stash at gunpoint. Get real. The government does not need or want your gold. The government only needs numbers, and the Fed was created to supply all the numbers the government wants. Nobody needs gold to do that. Even if some knothead were to decide they did need the gold they still would not try to seize it, they would merely ask people to turn it in just as they did in the 30s. Many people in the 30s did not turn in their gold, they simply left it in the attic for the grandkids to have. It would be even more so now because Americans are not so patriotic as they were then. A call to turn in gold would be considered a laughing matter, mainly because very few people actually have any gold and those who do are not going to give it up without a fight, and they mean a fight where somebody has to die.

Your neighbor is more likely to steal your gold.
