Visited a coin shop in Ann Arbor today, the owner wanted to get rid of his foreign junk Ag. After a little haggling, picked up these,

The Peace dollar has some scratches, some show up in the pic. Also got him to throw in some sterling scrap,

He also threw in a small hand full of bronze coins. There is a skosh over 2.27 T.Oz. in the whole lot (not counting the scrap sterling). I paid $33. Works out to $14.54 a T. Oz.

Nice pick up.

Ann Arbor, huh? You probably could have gotten away with offering the guy a few rocks from the side of the road. I hear those Wolverines aren't the sharpest bunch.

Sweet Bluegill, I would have jumped on it myself. I have the same 1942 Shilling coin which was obtained from a coin counter reject bin.

Those are rather nice looking.

I'n not much of a numi, but to me, older coins seem to have a nice heavy strike and more detail, depth, and character than what we issue today.

Good score.

What are the coins in the second row? What country are they from? They are very cool looking.

Nice finds Bluegill.

You probably already know the 3 pence dated 1914, the Canadian ten cents dated 1917, and the Australian six pence dated 1936 and three pence dated 1943 are .925 silver.

The 3 pence dated 1920 is either .500 silver or .925 sterling, 1920 was the switchover year. I have no way of knowing the silver content so keep it as a possible sterling.

The Republica de Panama and the Cuban coin (the one with the star in the center) are nice since they have the silver content shown right on them, .900
The Republica Venezuela has its silver content on it, .835

That is the nice thing about some South American silver coins, there is no guesswork to figure out how much silver is in them since it is right on the coin.

I change with the times-
but like silver coins found in your change
I stay the same.

Will The United States of America end up as the New Imperial Rome?
