At 25 cents each from my dealer's junk bin these British pennies aren't really a good way to stock up on copper, but I thought they were interesting so I bought a few fists full. (I bought this many because when I started picking them out I decided I needed to have a pound of them for some reason.) The US cent is in the pic for size comparision.
I picked out about 60 of them. According to my probably inaccurate cooking scale it takes 49 of these to make a pound, so yeah, I paid way over spot. They are fun to hold though, a nice chunk of copper.
According to the little bit of research I did they are made of the same composition as pre-1982 US cents.
I looked through and the ones I got have 3 different Kings and a Queen on them. At least now I actually have some real copper pennies, as opposed to cents, lol.

i got them because they have a lot of die clashes, they are very interesting; i think die clashes are way more interesting than doublings,

I was googling these things and came across this. If you are at all interested in these coins you should check out this lady's notes on them. She cracks me up for some reason, and has a lot of good information.
She (Auntie Weasel) has a refreshing take on coin collecting, IMO.
