Just recently found a 1940-J German 5-Reichpfennig in a roll of pennies. Anyone know if this is of any value? It has the Nazi symbol below an eagle or other bird on the obverse and a big 5 on the reverse. It is probably in Fine condition, not too much rub.

I have some NAZI coins brought back from WW2, I kept them around thinking that maybe you know who had them, do you know what metal they used to make them?

                      | My book says they were made out of zinc. Thanks for the value, copperhead57. My foreign coin book is almost 7 years out-dated and it does not have a value for one of these coins in Fine.

My 2009 book still has that coin listed for 25 cents in fine.

Even if the book value is not much, it must be pretty uncommon to find something like that in circulation these days.

They could be a variety of metals, just like coins today. What do you have?

The Third Reich are zinc like kirkland said. The 1878 German Empire piece is cupro-nickel. There are seven different mint-marks for the Nazi coins, A B D E F G J. If the 5 pfennig Nazi coin is a 1942E, it is worth $6+ - anything else is 15 to 50 cents in F/VF and $1-2 in XF.
