Hey, i have an opportunity to get a ton or two of cardboard bales a week. The only cost I would have in them is the gas it takes to deliver them. I am wondering if anyone here knows if there is a place in eastern Nebraska or western Iowa that pays for cardboard bales. Thanks for any help.

I ship out about 230 tons of cardboard a week.. but I am not near you. Do a google search for a MRF (Materials Recovery Facility) near you. You might try doing a search for Republic Services in your area. Call up and talk to the GM or Operations manager and tell them you want to work out a deal to sell 1 to 2 tons a week of baled OCC #11. You will get a better rate if you work out a deal than to just haul it in and get paid the street rate.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

Thanks for the info. That should help me get in the right direction. I thought a couple tons was a good amount, but 230 tons. How do you go about getting that much cardboard? And also, what is the going rate for OCC #11 where you are?

I think Omaha Paper Stock still buys cardboard. It's been a long time since we have hauled anything down there. At one time it was paying $240.00 a ton! You may want to try Wayrehouser, (or however they spell it) over off 72nd & F street as they used to buy it too. As a last resort you could contact Crossroads of Western Iowa and ask them who they sell to as they recycle tons of cardboard also.

CrossRoads of Western Iowa, 1 Crossroads Pl, Missouri Valley, IA. Tel: 712-642-4114

silversaddle1 offers good advice. Call around to the big boys and see what they are paying. I can guarantee it isn't $240 a ton anymore.. but you should still be able to get a good price. I sold another 345 tons today and the price was up another $2 a ton.

Yeah.. seems I do everything by the ton.. Tons o' fun! .. lol

Hey there AROD. Welcome to RealCent. This site never ceases to amaze me. The number of different things which people recycle, scrap, collect, hoard, buy, sell, trade, melt... it boggles the mind.

Thanks Uthminsta, new to posting but have been lurking around for awhile. This site actually got me started on pennies and nickels. I won't be doing alot of cardboard, yet. I am just trying to help out a grocery store that currently pays to have it hauled out with the trash. I figure if they can bail the cardboard I will haul it away for free.

Actually.. that picture is shot at a bad angle.. You can't really see it in the pic, but those stacks are 6 or 7 rows deep!
