Once or twice is a novelty.

WARNING:
DANGER: YOU ARE ABOUT TO BE "CUT OFF"!!

Remedy: Find a different branch to dump to. Never dump and pick up at the same branch.

Other than that, congratz, and happy hunting!!

Listen to Kurr; don't poo where you eat, as the saying goes. Happy hunting and good luck!

Right. I think it is great you got the $50 in pennies, but an exchange like that raises too many flags. Just make sure you don't dump at Wells Fargo, because you will find that it is the best bank for pennies. Good luck!

The second time I ever went to the bank I got $50. They have yet to cut me off.

Taking pennies back to a source bank is the #1 NO NO in the penny sorting world. This will get you cut off quick. If you don't believe us, try it for 1 month with $200+ orders.

There are exceptions to the don't dump at your source rule. I did it on Monday. I knew that they had two boxes of LP4 in the vault, but they wouldn't part with them last Friday because it would have left them short. I took them two bricks of hand wrapped rolls and they were happy to exchange them for me.

Then only time it is ok to dump at a source bank is when you are dropping it off bagged, because it has to leave the bank to get counted and re rolled. The even bigger issue is if you don't get cut off you will end up getting your own coins back.

Very occasionally you can do a swap but only if they offer. I just dumped a bunch of pennies and nickels the teller said - oh I'll need to ship these. She asked what I do with coins and I said "look for old ones". I have not dumped there for a couple weeks so I said something about her already having a lot of coins on hand. She offered to swap 6 boxes straight across which worked out great. But I would not recommend this as a regular strategy. I've gotten my marked rolls back several times from source banks I never dump at so I never buy from dump banks.

I dump at my credit union. They have a coin sorter there. After I dump I'll wait a few days then get another bag of pennies.

As long as it works for you......Keep doing it.

I use my CU as a dump bank. I primarily use one particular branch for this. What if I use the other branches as sources and get them to order for me? Anyone have experience w/ that? There are a few dozen other banks and CU's in the area that I use strictly for sourcing, never dumping. Thx. -js

Its great that you're excited, however I have few warnings as well. This can become very addicting. It starts with pocket charge then you buy a few rolls, the next thing you know, you're wondering how many boxes your car's suspension system can handle. Also be careful with handling the boxes. The first time bought a box I almost dropped it on my foot! That would have been an embarrassing trip to the Dr. Good luck!

There is no problem with selling at one branch and buying at another. Most of the time banks hold on to coins in the vault and wait for someone to request them. But if you overload a branch with thousands in pennies then they will have to send them out to make room in the vault.
