We all know that Buffalos are herd animals. Largly gone from the plains.. and just about every other state.. yet we continue to search for them.
Well, one of my banks has been trying to get me to take some CWR nickels all week and I kept turning them down. Finally Friday afternoon.. in a weak moment.. and because I wanted to up my coin count to improve my Silver Searcher score.. I told them I would take their nickels. Turns out they had even more than I thought they did.. 175 rolls!
So I am going through the rolls and open one up.. and the first coin out of the roll is a Buffalo! I don't score many hides.. so this is a big deal for me. I look at the second coin.. it is a Buffalo too! And the third.. and fourth.. and the fifth. I was getting pretty excited. Nope, it wasn't a whole roll of buffalos.. only 31! And 5 silver War nickels.. 1 BU nickel from the 70's.. and only 3 rejects! Best roll of nickels I have gotten in a long time. I checked the other 174 rolls and all the good ones were consolidated in that one roll.
I don't have to worry about going back to that bank and getting anything else that may have been turned in with those nickels since I took all the coins of every denomination out of there on Friday. No silver was found in the dimes or Quarters.. I haven't processed the pennies yet.

Great score, HCBTT! I'm surprised that whoever rolled that didn't notice the Buffalos. Maybe they meant to keep that roll?
Anyway, you should go back and buy up all their nickels. Good luck! :-) |

I am thinking it was somebody's keeper roll. Considering that there was nothing in the other 174 rolls.. it was like these were presorted.
I had a day like Buffalo Bill. This puts me firmly on the board in the Buffalo section. |

| kirkland.. I must be precognizant.. I bought up all their rolls when I picked these up. I also bought all their dimes, quarters, halves and pennies on the same day. So I don't even have to go back. And to think I had been turning down these nickel rolls all week. |

Good then, getting all those coins. Who knows. Maybe that same customer will bring in more later?
Maybe you'll have the same luck when you look through the pennies you received there. I think maybe an Indian head or two and lots of wheaties could be awaiting you. . . :-) |

HCBTT...that is an awesome score on the buffalo nickels and war nickels. Wow!!! My congrats to you!
Hoping that you will now find lots and lots and lots of silver in other denominations too.

| Most dates were readable.. only a few no dates. Some were actually in F-VF. All dates were common. I suspect these were escaped buffalos.. since one was acid-dated. |
