Usually I'm not one to buy silver on eBay because of the high premiums, but I caught a deal last night that was just unbeatable. With combined shipping, I was able to pick up 19 Franklin halves for $99.01 shipped. And, since I'm in the eBay Bucks program, I get $1.98 of that back. That's a total of $97.03 for $9.50 of 90% silver, which comes out to be about 10.2 times face!
Best of luck, everyone. Keep your eyes open.

I get deals every once in a while, About a month ago I got two auctions of 48 roosevelts for $50 and $53 from the same seller, 11.2x final including shipping. Before that 27 Mercury dimes for $26.50. Just won a few days ago a roll of walking libs for 13.0x, thats lower than the average selling price and they are pretty decent condition. The key to finding deals is knowing the "special" search terms |

Corsair, Bully for you! I bet it feels good.
If you look for the poorly composed listings, you can find ones that have been overlooked. |

Yeah, I've found some deals like that. I wrote about it on my website under "A Bad Spell of Silver" |

Good job.
I have scored some nice deals on foreign Ag, and mixed lots. While everybody is tripping over each other for the U.S. stuff, I'm buying the Canadian, Aussie and other foreign goodies, cheap.

Bluegill -
I agree on the foreign stuff...I like picking up foreign for at/under spot. Need to familiarize yourself with the popular foreign silver with the 1901-2000 World Coins book. Our local library has one and I have written down a lot of the info out of there. This weekend picked up 1948 Mexico 5 peso (.90 Ag), 1963 Netherlands 2 1/2 gulden (.72 Ag) and 1954 Australia shilling...the ram coin (.50 Ag). Nice price and a wonderful changeup from the usual US90 we see day after day.
David - Good deal on those Frankies.

The deals are there, you just have to be firm on your price and don't overbid. The best way to get a deal on ebay is to bid on absolutely everything early, and about maybe half of one percent of the time you'll score a deal on an item overlooked by everyone else. Sometimes people run out of money to bid, so you'll pick up a good deal. Most of the time though, you'll get outbid. I used to bid on several hundred auctions at a time, as far as a week in advance, and was winning maybe once a day, at about a fifteen percent discount to the going rates. It's like finding an indian, you just need to keep looking (bidding).
Congratulations, David on your 10.2X |
