I know what I consider to be the answer to this question but am curious if others use the same numbers.
a $50 (5000 pennies)bag of copper weighs what? a $50 (5000 pennies)bag of zinc weighs what? an average $50 bag (unsorted)picked up from the bank?
food for thought: with your answer please give an estimate to the percentage of canadians in each bag.

$50 bag of zinc - 12.5 kilos.
$50 bag from bank - 13.5 kilos, give or take.

I have been doing 28lbs of zincs = $50, bag included. For copper...about 34.5 lbs? Haven't experimented with that yet, because I roll my copper. |

Using minty fresh coins...
Cu 3.11 grams x 5000 = 15550 grams. 15550 grams ÷ 453.6 grams/pound = 34.28 pounds.
Zn 2.5 grams x 5000 = 12500 grams. 12500 ÷ 453.6 grams/pound = 27.56 pounds.
Using MI percentages of 30%.
3.11 grams x 1500 = 4665 grams ÷ 453.6 = 10.28 pounds. 2.5 grams x 3500 = 8750 grams ÷ 453.6 = 19.29 pounds.
10.28 + 19.29 = 29.57 pounds.

Where are you located that is getting that high of percentage of Canadian pennies? That's the equivalent to 250 a box. I only get about 1.5% here in SE MI.
What are the Cu Percentages of the Canadian?

| I dont do boxes much, mainly bags. located in Vermont...I did a test sample last night on a 13lb lot that was being shipped. random batch from the sorted box. I counted out 1950 pennies which if you average 150 per pound would be 13 lbs....weight 13 lbs 12ounces.....thinking about seperating the canadians.... |
