I am not promoting nor endorsing any of these shows. I am merely posting the information for anyone in the Florida area that might wish to attend. If you need more information I am sure that a Google search will give you the details.
North Lake Coin and Currency Club Coin Show -- Saturday, March 13, 2010 -- 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. -- Located at the Veterans Memorial American Legion Post 347, 699 W. Lady Lake Blvd., Lady Lake, Florida. I have not attended this show in the past so I have no idea how large/small/good/bad it might be.
March 19 - 21, 2010 Volusia County Fairgrounds, Hwy. 44, Deland, Florida.
Central Florida Coin Club Spring Show -- April 8 - 10, 2010 This is held at the Central Florida Fairgrounds in Orlando, Florida with free admission and in the past there has also been free parking. Their flyer also says free gift and free hourly door prizes. I have attended this show twice in the past and it is a nice club show, in my opinion. This is also the club that worked the recent FUN show with the registration tables, etc.
I have gotten conflicting information about the above coin show. Their website is listing the dates as:
Future Show Dates
April 9 - 11, 2010 September 10 - 12, 2010
The April dates conflict with the flyer I had picked up at the FUN Show which shows it being held on April 8 - 10, 2010. The 10th is a Saturday and the flyer has the show ending at 3 p.m. on Saturday. If this is correct information, I can't truly say how worth anyone's time it might be as past shows that end early on the last day always have had many dealers not showing up at all and others beginning to pack up by noon. IF I can learn which dates and/or times are correct, I will post the info here. Hope this hasn't inconvenienced anyone.
Received the following info regarding inquiry I made on above listed coin show in Orlando, this coming weekend:
Show dates were changed after the FUN show. Our website is correct. Show runs from Friday thru Sunday. Dealer set up is on Thirsday. Fri , Sat hours 10 -6 Sun hours 10 - 3. Drawing will be on Sun at 2 pm. You do not have to be present to win. Also, I thank you for telling people about the show and I do hope that you will be there.
Hope this information clears it all up for anyone interested in attending this show in Orlando at the Fairgrounds.
April 23 - 25, 2010, Sarasota, Florida. U.S. Hwy. 41, Municipal Auditorium. Found this info online about this show:
Date: Apr 23-25 Location: Sarasota, FloridaSarasota Coin Show. Sarasota Municipal Auditorium, 801 N. Tamiami Trl. Hrs: Fri.-Sat. 10AM-5PM, Sun. 10AM-3PM. Sarasota and Manatee Coin Clubs. Frank Cox, 755 S. Palm Ave., #203, Sarasota, FL 34236. PH: 941-954-0202. Email: frankcox@comcast.net or visit website: You must be logged in to see this link. DLR: 70. TA: 100. FR
(The above info about the Sarasota show came from this web site: You must be logged in to see this link.)
Free admission throughout the 3 day run of the show. Free parking is available in several lots adjacent to the Auditorium.
This above info came from this web site that pertains to the Sarasota, Florida show: You must be logged in to see this link.
The Greater Jacksonville Coin Club Coin Show -- May 28 - 30, 2010 This is to be held at the Morocco Shrine Temple, 2800 St. Johns Bluff Rd., South, Jacksonville, Florida. Their flyer also says Free Admission and Parking. I have never attended this show so I have no idea as to the size/quality, etc.
Summer FUN Show is to be held in Orlando, Florida July 8 - 10, 2010. I have no idea if the Summer FUN Show is anywhere near the size of the FUN Show that was just held in January, 2010. I know the recent FUN Show was massive and really educational too. There was a fee for parking but admission for that show was free. Not sure about the Summer FUN Show as far as parking fee and/or admission.
October 29 - 31, 2010 US Hwy. 41, Municipal Auditorium, Sarasota, Florida
December 3 - 5, 2010 Volusia County Fairgrounds, Hwy. 44, Deland, Florida.
If I find out about more I will post them. I am putting this post in more than one area as I have learned that some members don't necessarily frequent the entire forum. But that's OK. I will try to update all of the posting locations if I learn of more shows.
Enjoy your coin searches, everyone.

There are dead lizzards and frogs all over the place here in South Florida and yes they are falling out of the trees and they are a purpleish/blue color dead all over my yard. Really kind of cool, since I hate frogs (these in praticular). Thanks for the info on the shows hopefully we can get togather at one. |

I say we go to the Bahamas for the next coin show. Or at least somewhere that gets above the thirties. |

Hopefully, it will be warmer by the time any of these shows rolls around. For a northern-born girl, I sure don't take kindly to the cold anymore and it WAS cold here in Central Florida. |

I think something like this may have happened up our way too and we are way north of you, george454. Spring has sprung and we are being inundated with flying bugs, not entirely sure what they are, that in the past probably would have been eaten by our lizards and our rain tree frogs. Not now. Bugs everywhere and they love the "bug lights". |

Our grapefruit tree survived and is loaded with blooms. Our mulberry tree wasn't quite as happy and the crop is virtually non-existent this spring. Our pear trees, never done well, are really loaded with blooms this year. However, my avocado tree that was looking so nice was frozen back to nothingness.
You must be somewhere near Central Florida, NoCents. |

George454, I just saw this post. Sorry I can't always get online or to this site each and every day. Went to the show yesterday and it was good. Some of the dealers were packing up early but maybe they won't today. I bought some stuff...more than I needed but I couldn't help myself.
Give me a call. I sent you a PM with my cell number. If you go and haven't reached me for some reason. Look for a lady with a black cane. The husband is about 6' 2" and has fading red hair so he should be easy to spot in the crowd. |

NoCents...I believe there are a few members that live in Florida. However, I don't know how many of us are in Central Florida area.
If you think you might be going to a show, send me a PM with several days to spare as I can't always get on here every day and I may miss a message as I did from george454. Hopefully, we will get a chance to meet.
The show was really, really good. I think better than the first two I have attended by this club. I went Friday and stayed until after 5 and then went back on Saturday and stayed until 3:15 hoping I would get a call from george454. It didn't work out this time to meet up but hopefully in the future more of us can put faces to the names from this forum.
The dealers seemed pretty excited that the price of silver and gold were both up. I saw a few coins being bought for "coin collecting" purposes. Saw more silver and gold being bought as bullion.
Had fun going through foreign junk bins at quite a few different tables. So many coins...not enough time.
This show will be held again in September. Well worth going if you haven't already attended one of these club shows. There were about 200 dealers there.
And the Summer FUN show is being held in Orlando this year and it will be at the Convention Center. I have heard some say it is as large as the FUN show held in January. Others have said it isn't as large. So, I guess time will tell for those of us that get to attend.

Thanks for the invite PTP. May try to take you up on it when and if.....
I've been to a few shows further south.....I've never once seen a "good deal" on any buys. It seems that most dealers are well versed on thier trade and are always on the look for a better flip. You can't blame them for not giving it away huh? |
What's in it for the dude? |

This coming Friday - Sunday is the coin show in Sarasota, Florida.
Anyone going??? If so, PM me early this week so I'll have time to get online to check my messages.
I can't be sure but we are hoping to be able to drive down early on Saturday to attend the show that day. I understand it is a several hours drive each way for us. Of course, it all depends on the husband's work schedule and his/my health. He is supposed to be off this Saturday but there have been some family emergencies for co-workers and he may have to have his schedule altered. So, I may not know for certain until the end of the week.
But, if you are going on Saturday send me a PM with your cell number so we can meet up at the show if I am able to attend.

Sadly, I won't be able to attend the show in Jacksonville, Florida this weekend.
If anyone goes, how about posting a report and how it was? Thanks. |
