I saw this thread after I posted this in another...but I'll posti t here as well.

I have noticed a strange thing happening in at least a few of the grocery stores. It seems the isle is getting more narrow and the shelves are not as deep. Maybe I am just imagining things!

I know however the toliet paper rolls, paper towel rolls, shampoo, body wash, toothpaste etc all are smaller in size but still the same price or a little higher even.

I also hit a place called dutchway market on rt 41 near Gap PA. Can sometimes get 93% lean ground beef for $1.99. Also get jumbo eggs usually $1.59 a dozen, and a lot of things are just a few cents cheaper than the usual suspects. Sales can be really good, and they have these organic chickens that taste nothing like any other chicken I ever had. WAY better. You can also get chicken wings almost the size of your fist for $2.39 and butter on sale is 3lb for $5.
The worst store I know price wise in your area is Acme.

Naamans Rd is near my parents. I'll need to check into that Stoltzfus place. Gap is a bit of a hike. True, Acme is the WORST.

Taylor, you could be right about the disguised pricing on bulk items at Costco. People just assume they're getting a better deal, but how many take the time to comparison shop? Costco offers coupons too, and sometimes that makes for a deal. A while back I picked up an $8.99 item with a $4 off coupon, 32 Benefiber drink mix packs inside... about 15 cents apiece and healthier than drinking sodas. Got 21 boxes since deals like that are few and far between. Flavor packs to sweeten plain water will also be a good barter item if TSHTF someday.

Hoard now and hold on!
