Roughly 10% in various parts of BC. You want to keep all Ni Nickels including up to and including 1981. The non-Ni nickels from the war years (chromium plated steel, Tombec) are worth more as collector items.

All Canadian Nickels since the about 2007 (and many from 2000) have a steel core with nickel plating. I expect there is no reason to change from a steel slug in 2010.

Hey Jade, if you have a market for the war year nickels, let me know. I turn them back out to the wild.

I have been running about 10% or less here for the past 6 months. It was in the low 20% range when I started a few years ago.

I sold a bunch of US war nickels to a Bellingham coin dealer for 68 cents each. The Canadian War nickels I just throw in a jar for now and I've not been worrying about a market. Someone's got to be interested in them for more then face. Can you ebay them?

I probably could eBay them, but not worth the time currently.

I should just start pulling them and keeping them for later. I probably have a couple hundred a month come through that I just send back out in the wild.

I wonder what they do with the chrome plated stuff (1944-45 & 1951-54) at the ARP (Alloy Recovery Program) centers.
Do they simply destroy them ? I never see anything below 2000 in ARP rolls.

Is it worth saving Canadian nickels from 1982 to 1999 or any US nickels besides the war time ones? Thanks
