when the point comes that people are talking about copper pennies being valuable in there everyday conversations do you think it will become hard to get the pennies. I have a hunch that as soon as somebody else thinks you might be making a dollar or two on the coins, the whole idea of getting coins for face value at the bank is going to stop. The tellers seem to oblige us now only because they think we are the "wacko coin guys". so it seems like a catch 22.....if it is not in the mainstream then nobody knows that they should buy the pennies, but when it becomes mainstream then you cant get pennies to be able to sort....hmmmmm..... thoughts?
visit www.crazycoinguy.com for information on how to sort, what to sort, and sorting equipment. We also sell copper pennies in bulk, and other coins.
I explain the concept of bullion value (even today) as I pick up 50.00 in pennies from two banks. The teller's reaction is always the same. They pity me. The respond with a patronizing "oooo kay, really have a good time with those" I know as soon as I turn around they're twirling their fingers by the sides of thier heads. I love it and so should you. It's that attitude which makes this such a cool activity. The history of real money is lost. People look at paper and think its real. It's an empty promise.
Is it Ponce's signature? "If you can't hold it you don't own it." Americans are in for a quick and painful education on how worthless a promise to pay is. Buy gold, buy silver hoard copper. Prepare yourself with the things you need and thank God for what you have.
And, definately educate your friends and family and the ones you love. Not just about pennies but about not being lazy concerning their own financial destiny.
It is not mainstream right now and I don't think it will be until something major change like coin metal or the melt ban is lifted. This is just fine as we all here will keep saving until the rest of the world will want to jump and then it will to late.
