How do you guys minimize getting skunks coins (i.e. someone else dump or mint wrapped coins)?

I have about 5 banks designated as dump only.
I do about 30 banks a month and have crossed off about half of them that are giving me only mint wrap coins only on a frequent basis.

Crossing someone elses dump bank is tricker, since I still manage to get good coins (non-dump) and sometimes even good find stuff in their dump that they overlooked.

I am hestitant to tell my tellers to take a batch of coins back (that are dumps or mint wrapped) and to go get me another set. It does take them about 5 minutes to go to the vault and they make no money off the transaction. They should be charging me for the rolls according to their brochure, but 99.9% they get me coins for free. So I don't what to rock the boat.

I run in to CDI wrapped coin all the time that has been sorted already. RBC has a special relationship with the Mint to distribute new coin. TD branches carry less coin in stock then most banks.

So I now dump all coin at RBC branches and buy from on hand stock everywhere else. I don't ask for boxes anymore = too much presorted coin. I just ask for "whatever they can spare." and get plenty of coins. Ordering has not worked well for me as it brings in new/presorted coin.

The RBC has always been my dump bank,I think they like it that I bring them pennies and nickels.

Just in case there is someone going to my RBC for coin sorting I mark both ends of the box with the universal sign for no copper pennies (Cu inside a circle with a line through it)

I also put the shiniest Hags face showing at the bottom of the roll and have them all showing if you open the box.
It would be pretty obvious that it's full of newer pennies.

Down south we just pop the box on a scale. We know right away if it has copper.. and can actually tell you how many coppers are in the box.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

Make conversation with a friendly teller and tell them that you are a coin collector and you like CRW's because you find more of what you are looking for. When I have done this I have goten great boxes and friendly service.
