Does anyone here ever spend their sorted halves instead of dumping them? Since I only get 4-6 rolls at a time, I usually spend the halves after I sort them. When I pay for food at a fast-food joint with the halves, you should see the looks on the 18-25 year-olds who act like I've paid for my food with confederate coins! Some of them don't even know how to count them....

Bought a NERF gun with 35 dollars in halves a couple of weeks ago. But what is more fun is paying with a large amount of SBA's. Most of them think your 75% short! |

Best Buy refused to take my halfs when I wanted to buy a digital camera for about $200. The gas station attendant now gets very impatient when I count them out. And sometimes the grocery clerk will ask me to combine the halfs with paper. Any half I spend just makes it that much easier to return the remainder for paper. I generally try to save my paper and spend my halfs, since I would otherwise have to lug those same halfs to a bank to be exchanged for paper. |

I use them for tips, postage, fast food. Any small purchases I can. Only have 1 really handy dump bank and I prefer to buy from them so I avoid dumping at banks. I'm a real small time half sorter though. Love to see the reactions. |

I'll spend them, but usually outside of where I search unless it is a small amount. I spent $40 in $2 bills today (nothing older than 76) rounding up some last minute Christmas shopping, and the cashier had to have his manager come and see if it was okay to accept them. Then I tipped $2 in halves for a haircut on the way back home. |

I can't get any halves from my 2 CU's - only $50 bags of cents!
But when I do manage to beg other banks into selling me halves, yes I spend the clads. And yes, I love the looks & comments. You'd think I just paid with a $10 gold piece!
Almost as fun are the small $1 Prez coins - the McDonalds clerks have to ask their boss what they are!
Sure wish I could get small #'s of half rolls. My CU's won't order less than $1,000.00 worth! I don't have that much cash handy to play with!!! |
