Are you better off hoarding USA or Canadian Copper pennies? I'm thinking hoarding Canadian copper pennies is the better way to go because:

1) There is a bit more copper in Canadian pennies.
2) If the dollar goes down and Canada's currency goes up my Canadian pennies would be worth more.
3) If I ever had to melt my pennies I'd be better off with Canadian because they don't have a melt law and I'm in the USA so how would they prosecute if I did melt Canadian pennies here in the states.

You are correct, but Canuk-A-Cents are not found as often in the U$ofA as Lincolns.
I keep all I find.

There's profit if you melt things!!

I'm sure you just worded it wrong but Canada does have a melt ban on pennies.

Only within Canada. There is no US law against melting Canadian pennies.

Of course I'm not a lawyer...

Hey Toomuchcopper -

Its not that we are not selling. Its the fact that Canada Post can't come close to the deal you get with your flat rate boxes. Heck, they want $6.00 to mail a T-shirt & theres no weight in that!
I would happily sell Canadian pennies but shipping is tough. On a $25.00 box of 1982 & up pennies they want $39.95 to send a box from Toronto to anywhere in NY state!! Theres a deal!!

How many takers?? I've got 500 lbs, just PM me.

That makes us very competative.

Nice. Yes. Very nice.

interesting...did not realize shipping was the problem....what is the deal with driving them across the border? is there laws restricting that? I am only 3 hours from the canadian border in vermont....perhaps this is something to think about...anybody just over the border in quebec?

I do drive Canadian coin across the border from time to time to fill customer orders. Shipping from within Canada is pretty high as noted above. There is no export restriction and we have seen photos of a truckload of Cdn coin being hauled south.
