Since we are throwing other coins out there... The 3 cent silver is an awesome coin. One of my very favorites as it was the smallest US coin produced.

Beautiful little gems come in small packages. Your 3c silver minted during Civil War is wonderfully toned. Nice coin. |

I wish it was mine, it was just a pic off of the internet. The few I have don't look anywhere close to this one. :) |

I do like the little 3C silver!
I have three, all not nearly as nice as Oober's specimen.
A really great choice.
I still get all stirred up about Walkers.
It's Standing Liberty's for me.

Another vote for Barber silver here. Love to collect them and it's great when they are found in rolls! |

Oh, for 90% silver... that would include the old commemorative silver halves. I have a few that I really like: but most especially the eagles on the reverse of the Alabama and of the Lincoln halves. I like em!!!! |

Exactly.
I love the old British crowns. THAT'S a chunk of beautiful silver! Sterling though.
My absolute favorite American silver is bust dimes. I have been trying for many years to get my grandpa to start a set of those. Wow. I thought the trade dollars were pretty cool too. Especially since they spent a lot of time traveling around the world and got a lot of cool looking counterstamps on them. Lots of story to those. Oh, and 20 cent pieces. Try finding one at a dealer's table that is NOT an 1875.
But on a more affordable / recent level, I am partial to Barber stuff. But even those, I don't have more than a few of them in my collection. |

I am surprised that so many people choose the Franklins. I find them a somewhat ugly coin.
May I ask what you find attractive about them? What do you like about them?
But less worn then all but 64s- and those can be mixed up with 40%. For the coin- solid value. I like mercs and barbers. |

I don't know ... I like Benjamin Franklin, but the portrait of him on the half just looks weak. |

Bullion, I assume? My vote is for '64 Kennedy. Numismatic? Walkers, hands down. |
As far as I know, it is stated "In God We Trust" on the US dollar. How can I trust this currency if I do not believe in God?

I choose the Walker Half as #1. I also like the Morgan Dollar. Third choice would be the Merc. Worst: Roosie. Second worst: Barber Half / Quarter with its roasted squab on the back. I don't mind the Barber obverse although Liberty looks too butch...so the barber dime gets a pass. |

I remember finding my dad's collection and the '43 walker in it. I was glued to that coin for a week. For a survival coin I like the washington quarter...it seems to be just the right size. |
