I went on coin star to see how to get my extra $10 and saw this press release. Any one else see it? The poor guy was right about the value of a penny, but cashed in at the wrong place.

WOW!! Can you imagine what that guy could have received for those pennies from a coin dealer or a coin hoarder?! 
Imagine how many wheaties must have been in that amount of pennies, specially since he started in 1967!! IHC, steelies, etc. 
In a way, I feel sorry for that guy ... he could have, IMHO, received substantially more than 'face value' for his 4.5 tons of pennies.
I guess for those who are hoarding, collecting, etc., there's gonna' be some interesting boxes and rolls once that hoard makes it's way into the mainstream banks, etc.
Wonder if it would be worth a trip 'down South' to try and snag some of those rolls?

| that is the worlds largest personal penny collection??????? If that is the case, I'm going to hold that record in the next year or so when I start my next project. I'll contact Coinstar to get rid of the zincs( for gift cards at Lowes of course!) I just hope Obama can somehow convince the world for a little bit that everything is perfect finally so these PM's go down for a little while. |

How about a happy ending...
Wouldn't it be nice to find a follow-up about "how crazy" this guy is, finding out that he ALSO has a hoard of all the copper he separated out of these coins over the last few decades... and this four ton dump was just his zincs!!!!!
Haha... if only.
