I stopped into my bank today to dump some zincs and on a lark bought roll of half dollars. The teller opened up one end of the roll and there staring back at me was a 1963 Franklin.
hmmm.
As calmly as I could I asked how many more rolls they had. I was told that an older lady brought in 2 and 1/2 rolls yesterday. Of course I bought the rest and found that the Franklin was just the tip of the iceberg. The rolls yeilded:
17 Walkers
16 Franklins
1 Kennedy 1964 (90%)
12 Kennedy 40% halves
About 14 ounces of silver by my count. Its nice to know these rolls are still out there. However, its sad to think of that old lady turning in over $250 worth of silver and getting $25 in return.

| My mom keeps telling me that this is probably going to be a great time to find some old coins. A lot of people are going to be turning in old change so they can have money for Christmas gifts. |

| I was at a local coin dealer last tuesday. These two elderly ladies came in with all kinds of tresures. The one lady had worked at a bank for eighteen years. This was in the sixties and she noticed how high silver was. The dealer friend of mine gave her 11x face for all her silver. I just wonder how many treasures were found. Of course he will not talk about finds,and thats his business. |

Nice finds. Why would you feel guilty in any way? You did NOTHING wrong. Better the silver goes to you than to have it re-circulated. Or worse yet, pulled by some bank employee. Good score.
