I long ago decided to sort halves rather than anything else due to the much higher percentages of silver in circulation. However, I think my original estimate was roughly 1% of all halves in circulation were silver. I went back over the last 4 months of finds from the "official" thread and found that on average we were finding .67% silver in circulation. It would be intersting to graph out as far as we have data to determin at what rate we are depleating the silver supply from circulation? At some point we will reach the percentage of silver that is found in quarters for example, but theoreticly it will never be at zero. Well unless they pull halves from circulation.
Any thoughts on this estimate? granted it isn't entirely a perfect sampling of the coins in circulation? or any estimates on how long we have until we reach quarter level?
