Just a curious question that I would think a lot of people ponder...do you count by weight or face value? Personally, as a small time sorter I like to seal a box with clear tape when I accumulate that much. Makes a nice "brick" that is easily recognizable. Have not posted in a wile but have been very busy with work. Eager to get back it. Hope all is well with everyone! GO STEELERS! :-)

Funny you should say that jade. That is exactly how I measure them. I keep them in 1 Ton bags.. very easy to count. If I want to get the actual count I just muliply by 300,000. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

I measure my holdings by the number of crushed vertebrae from packing penny bags. I'm at three so I'm getting a lotta copper.
I fill canvas bank bags plumb full and one day I will weight them on a scale. I'm trying to hit the one ton club by years end.

i just stack mine.
Old Kenny Rogers song comes to mind.
"You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table. There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done."
I figure I can count it when there is none left to buy, or I run out of FRN's.
I fill up one safe, then I start on the next. ( Gold and Silver )
Copper goes in buckets and stacked. |

| I dont measure them at all by weight or by face. I just pack another container full and sock it away, pretty messy system really, some day when the copper starts drying up i will get back and uniformly pack it with some sort of method, right now i have some in the $25 boxes, some in gallon glass jars, some in maxwell house plastic coffee jugs. |

I handle each coin with cotton gloves. I take the coin and inspect each side for 15 minutes and the edge for 8 minutes.
With that I fill out one of my preformed punch cards with the exact specifications on the coin.
I also take a high resolution picture of the front, back, and both edge sides of the coin.
I create an electronic copy of all of that and add it to my insurance rider for clarity and safety.
I then take each coin and self seal it with my sonic sealer into my own custom coin slabs.
I then take each slab and vacuum seal it using a Food Saver.
I then take 20 of the above coins and place them in a BLUE (must be blue) PCGS box (my slabs fit in those).
I have custom made crates that hold exactly 20 BLUE PCGS boxes and when I have 20 of those I put them into the box and seal it. I then glue seal all around the box. Naturally I have another label card with the information of what is in each box.
I then label the box and place it in the deep crypt that I dug in the vacant lot behind my house a few months ago.
So I measure my collection in terms of feet left in my crypt. Right now there are still 100 feet by 100 feet left. So I still have a long way before I finish these 3 bags of unsearched wheats that I've been hording!
It's more about the journey! |

| That's quite the process there. I think it's safe to say you have us all beat! |
As far as I know, it is stated "In God We Trust" on the US dollar. How can I trust this currency if I do not believe in God?
Possession is nine-tenths of the law.

I think you should be using Intercept Shield boxes instead of PCGS Barry. But other than that, the process sounds perfect. See what happens when you stop buying.. you have to make your coins last longer. |
