Just had my most productive and amazing buffalo hunt ever. Corralled 9 buffaloes from the same box!!!!! 2x1928, 1x1929, 1 exceptional high grade 36S, and 4 dateless. I'm so excited. Even my wife was impressed(major achievement)!!

The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; second is war. Both bring a temporary (and false) prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunities. |

Thanks everyone. I was truly in awe as they appeared one after the other. Did not know if anything like that has happened to anyone here or heard of any such finds from one box. There have been streaks this year where I went many boxes without any buffaloes. But, as Hoard would say about high and low yields....I guess like anything else, buffalo hunting is also mean reverting. But....this was nearly 1/3 of my 2009 herd-to-date, from one box!!!!!!! Let's go get more more more |

I am going to have a heck of a time catching you now. I only have 1 hide this year.

I don't think I saw boxes like that as a kid sorting at the kitchen table with my family, 48 years ago. Cheers!
This is just a symptom of the times when very old penny jars are dumped into counters. I am going through a penny box from the 50's through 70's right now.
Many of the 70's are BU and unmarked. Mirror bright. Many wheats from the 40's and not my best for oldest box by any means. It's just that the quality is as if these were set aside by a collector for the future and the jar went unappreciated by it's current owner. Granma or Granpa died.
This after several boxs of 95% zinc.
Don't you wish you had the boxes next to the one you just sorted?
