Stainless steel tanks. I was getting .80 to 1.00$ a pound for stainless. Now yards are paying only .43 to .50cents a lb.

Mind if I ask what kind of stainless steel tanks you are talking about? I wish you were in my area as I would love to buy one off you if it were the right size. I would be happy to give you that $1.00 a pound too.

You might be able to find another market for them other than scrap. If not, don't be surprised to see the price go back up for stainless scrap later this fall.

You must be logged in to see this link.

As goes the price of nickel, so goes the demand/supply/price of stainless.

That is one reason I post the news & stories from the steel site on bullion news, As substitutes for stainless increase due to higher steel prices, the price of nickel and scrap stainless decline. Right now there seems to be a it of a glut on the market (summer slowdown in manufacturing in europe, Chinese increasing output from home grown raw materials, etc.)

Like all metals, there seems to be a whole lot of volitility in the market for darn near every metal.

I should have chosen "Cut-n-Paste" as a forum name, since that is what I do, mostly.

I meant that the price dropped, "tanked" went lower. Beer kegs do make some good beer brewing vessels though.
