I got a 1943 Washington Quarter in change today at the local donut shop. It made my day. The coffee was free due to the silver coin I got in change.

NICE! Wild quarters are tough to find. |

Nice score! Yes, these are tough to come by. I have sorted a LOT of quarteres recently to "test" the silver score out. I averaged 1 quarter about every $2250 searched. |

I was a paper boy back in the early 80's. I never, ever found a silver quarter. I would get a war nickel now and then or even a 40% half but never a silver quarter. |

Those are hard to come by. Nice find. |

Wow, even that is lucky. A couple of years ago, I got to spend a couple of days in a cash room at my job. I dumped at least $20,000 of quarters in the machine, and only found 1 silver quarter, although I could only go by the distinctive sound that silver makes, I could not look at each one.
I did find 5 gold plated gold quarters however. |

I know it's hard to believe. I was looking for copper pennies in my change from the coffee purchase when I saw this thing looking back at me. As I've said before, I am forced by my occupation to work in the inner city. Very poor areas. I used to hit these banks when I was still sorting copper. I would sometimes get huge wheat scores. I'd also get coppers that were so-called "ash tray pennies" that were so bad I had to take a shower when I was done with them. |

WOW! Last I found a 'Wild Washington' was on vacation while passing through Roswell, NM in 2007. My Dad told me to go get a newspaper at the hotel we were staying at and one of the quarters didn't look right, and sure enough, it was silver! Nice find, though - great way to start your day! Congrats!! |
