Today's price increases for Joe Sixpack (sounds like Zimbabwe)

Crude + 2.6%

Heating Oil +3.6%

Gasoline +3.9%

Coffee +1.5%

Cocoa +1.8%

Sugar + 2.6%

Corn, Wheat, Soybeans more than 3% higher

Copper +3.5%

IN ONE DAY!!!!!!!!!!

The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; second is war. Both bring a temporary (and false) prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunities.

This is only a concern if this one day trend continues. For all I know it will be back where it was earlier by tonight. But no, inflation is certainly not contained.

I've been watching the value of base metals as well as precious. All I can say is that $1 fv copper penny is about $1.99 melt. And $1 fv nickels is about $1. So although this has happened before, I don't think its going back down anytime soon.

The commodity trend upwards has been ongoing all year, but has accelerated in the last few weeks - up over 40% for the year.

Are all commodities on their way back up to 2008 highs or greater?

Its funny not to see any of the biggies on that list. Like the old safe haven or inflation buster.

Goes to show that Gold, Silver, Plat.,Etc. are on their own schedules

Joe Sixpack is a consumer losing his purchasing power- not exactly a savvy wealth preserving inflation buster.

Sorry about that- I see the focus of the thread is on good ole American joe, but still there no reason that Joe Realcent couldnt got pinched by higher Pm prices as well =)

But it is still a good point to know that not all commodities are not in lockstep with each other. Seems kinda fishy...
