I was wondering for those that get loose bags of pennies, this question: Have you ever taken pennies to your dump bank/banks and later i.e. weeks or months got your bag back at your pick up bank/banks?
In theory I would assume all armored car companies are pulling coin from the same federal reserve branch so your bag could arrive and be placed on a pallet only later to be sent back out back to you.
Probably unlikely, but I was curious to know if this has happened to anyone? Likewise, has anyone recently received an entire bag of zincs?

I have never got my bags back but have got a few of my dump rolls, 20 to be exact. The bank at which I dump requires me to write my account number on the rolls, several weeks later I picked them up at my buy bank still in the rolls I rolled them as well as my account number on them. Kind of spooky that your number floats out there. After that I know dump my rolls at Walmart since they only ask me for my phone number. Would rather have random phone calls instead of someone in my account. |

Wow!
I didn't know banks required account numbers on coin rolls anymore. I guess it all depends on where you are located.
Still, like you, I would not want account numbers floating around. |

My main dump bank just told me they are now requiring I add my account number to every roll - likely to discourage my dumps. I'm switching dump banks as that is too much work.
I have gotten my dumps back at other branches a couple times. I can tell as I mark every roll with an S (for sorted). |

They probably wouldn't require the account # if you machine rolled them. Here is the solution I worked out just in case this ever happened to me. Just preprint sheets of labels on your computer with your account number on them and sticker the rolls. I even have a label peeling device that sits on the desk out in the penny processing center. It automatically advances to the next row of lables on the sheet once you pull off the last label on a row. Very convenient device if you labeling a lot of rolls. And you know how I love machines.. lol. |

Nice! In this age of identity theft & bank fraud a legitimate financial institution is handing out customer account numbers. Doesn't anyone else find this behavior not only offensive but borderline criminal? (Not to mention a few other choice words that would get censored here.) If this is how they treat customers or law abiding folk, what do they do to thieves?
I'd dump that dump bank & report them to your local government financial regulators. |

Some local banks have given me CWR's with names, phone numbers, and account numbers. Plenty of damaging information there. I'd NEVER return anywhere that required me to put my account number on rolls. Although I am lazy and I won't return rolled coins period.

I think you should ask to see the bank policy on writing of account #s on rolls you turn in. I had a branch try to make me stand there and write my account on every roll I was turning in. I called corporate and it turned out that it is against their policy to make you hand write your account #. |

I've never been asked but I have seen rolls with account or phone numbers occasionally. If you think about it it's not really in the bank's interest to expose its account holders to fraud in this way because there's a good chance that they could be held liable if the account is compromised. As PennySaved was saying it's probably more a policy of short-sighted managers than a company-wide policy. |

I would never put my SSN # or phone number or account number on a roll that is just going to be given out to someone else. I would try to work a deal with the bank to give them loose coin and they count it when you bring it in. |

I've been checking around. Someone I know who works for B of A said you can bring a bag of pennies in and they send it somewhere to have it counted and then credit your account within 3 business days. Guess it would be better than rolling it all by hand. |
