So there was some discussion a while back about weather to keep the 2008 pennies. Low mintage, Last year of the memorial. All that kind of stuff. So all said and done, should I keep them or not?
I keep any BU rolls I find, but I don't think it's worth the time to look for "uncirculated" recent coins in circulation when there are unopened original rolls to be had. An original roll is worth a premium over face to the right buyer immediately, but if you spend your time putting together rolls yourself you may never find a buyer for over face (or perhaps melt) value. If you think 2008 cents are worth investing in, why not post your own request for BU rolls/boxes in the wanted forum here? There are probably members here with quite a lot of them sitting around.
I am keeping several rolls of nice but circulated 2008's. I have 5 rolls of D's but only 2 rolls of P's (or "no mintmark"). So now I only look for those with no mintmark. Someone someday may want them. I'll keep one of each mintmark.
Most recent book I've read: "Meltdown" by Thomas E. Woods Jr. Current book: "I.O.U.: Why Everyone Owes Everyone & No One Can Pay" by John Lanchester
I see so many of these after the ryedale sorts out $200 in pennies. They all look Au or Bu, but i'm not going to be keeping these ones. I'm holding the 09's but that's about it for Au & Bu zinc years.
