So I just ran across this auction on eBay:

You must be logged in to see this link.

And even though the description was terrible and the seller has never sold anything before, I figured I'd Buy It Now. Think I made the right move?

"Silver clad" is an oxymoron. I can't make out exactly what those pieces are.

Nope, nevermind. Definitely not that.

Edit:

That must be it. Shoot. Well, if they are selling them for $21, hopefully I can turn it around on eBay and at least make up for it. Should have researched it a bit more first.

Hi there-

hmmm. JMO, but these might turn out to be Chinese "souvenir coins," worth approximately caca.
Seems pretty shady that a US seller would sell three ounces of silver for less than the price of one.

You can always file a "item not as described" complaint.

Keep us posted!

Well, I think I have good news and bad news. Good news first. You paid less than they are here: You must be logged in to see this link.
Bad news, I do not think they are pure silver. If they were, the coins would probably be marked as so, and the word "clad" would not be used. Sorry....

Deal

p.s. It even says COPY on coin. At least on on the site.

What does that mean on a coin - COPY that is. Does that mean it is not .999 silver. I had to bring mine out and check them out. I purchased mine from a forum member. They are 2001 and have 1 oz .999 fine silver. Copy #HF1960 and HF1961. I paid a more than $12.95. Should have asked questions huh.

Copy means it is not like the REAL coin. Outside of that, it could be anything. Copper Catcher sent me a copy of a rare wheat. Front looks real but who knows what it is made of.

1. Dodgy title
2. Intentionally (?) unhelpful photo
3. Seller has only one feedback

The odds are not in your favor on this one. Hope you luck out though!

I have a real nice looking '14 D somewhere. Real nice except for the tiny word COPY on the reverse.

COPY is one way to distinguish between a "Real" coin and a manufactured facsimile of that coin. The hobby protection act requires that the word "COPY" be on it, theoretically so these fakes will not be passed off as real coins to the uninformed. I have some great copies of very rare (if they were real) early american coins made by the Gallery mint in my collection. Of course there are plenty of copies that do not contain the word on them.. so you need to learn about conterfeit detection. Also, use common sense. If a deal sounds too good to be true.. there is a good chance that it is. As other members have mentioned.. there were many, many red flags on this auction that should have warned folks to stay far, far away.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

You win a few and you lose a lot. I should have played this a lot differently. I was very excited that I could get three ounces of silver for that price; and, whoops, looks like it's going to be somewhere around 2 whole grams of silver. However, the seller did say he would accept returns, and I think that's what I'm going to do.

Thanks for your help, guys. Luckily I didn't get a hundred or a thousand of these.

On what basis would you be making the return? I guess it will be okay, if he accepts returns for any/all reasons.

I simply said that I made a mistake. I said that it would save both of us time and money if he would refund my purchase before he shipped it. I asked that he hold back three or four dollars to cover the eBay and PayPal fees.

Decent deal I came across on ebay.

$550 (with cashback) for 38 peace dollars comes out to 14.4

By comparison, apmex sells "worse than culls" for $15.50
