I am currently saving my pennies in old mason jars that came from the store originally holding spaghetti sauce. One jar holds a tight packed nine dollars. But, I would rather keep my pennies in $50 mint bags. The US mint sells mint bags, but there is no gaurantee as to what you get. I ordered and got dollar mint bags. Anyone know where I can buy some $50 penny mint bags?

What does the mint charge for their bags? I can get plain generic cloth bags for pennies from my banking supply company for $1.10 each, but they are not labeled. I think if you do a large order you can have them print whatever you want on them. A few of my banks have started giving me the occasional cloth bag for free since they are all converting to the heavy plastic bags for coins. They give me the heavy plastic coin bags for free. That is what I use to turn my zinc pennies back in.

If memory serves, the Mint is charging in the $7 range for the cloth bags. The mint is no longer using cloth bags, so it is selling them as a collector item. Who is your supplier for the cloth bags and what size are you using?

If someone is selling coins on ebay, I would think that selling them in a cloth bag would help bring in a better price.

I get them from GeneralBankingSupply. They are standard penny bag size with square bottoms. I think they have a few different sizes. They are very reasonable on shipping too. I found them when I was shopping for a provider for automatic coin wrapping paper for my rolling machines. Most of the suppliers hit you pretty hard for shipping, but these guys were very reasonable. They have aluminum and plastic trays for your pennies and nickels also.

I bought a 1952 penny mint bag off of ebay a few weeks ago. I'm sure if you keep a close watch you would eventually find something similar.
