He asked what I would pay so I told him. I said my estimates were for lower grades. He only said what the grade was for one coin. I have learned the hard way that just because the "BOOK" says a coin is worth a certain amount doesn't mean you will be able to get that much for it. When I buy coins I very seldom pay what the book says they are worth. I can buy nice pre 1900 Morgans from my dealer for $18.00. If you pay "a lot" more than that for them I can pick up some for you.

Yeah it's a friends recently deceased relatives stash. I am the unofficial coin person in the office. And it was wonderful to be able to get a glimpse at this small collection. The funny thing was that this "collection" was found during a clean up of the family members home. Which i guess is one giant museum. I think they said they picked these up off the floor or something.
These coins are in limbo until the family decides who they are going to. I am contemplating offering 70-80 for the dollars and cents. I'm not big on purchasing coins when i could possibly find them in my searches, but a small purchase here and there doesn't hurt either.

Well we are thinking about the same then. If you add up what I said I would pay for the wheats it comes to about $70.00 depending on how many wheats there are total. And if you need a 24d to fill the hole in your book you will have to buy it anyway because your chances of finding one in the wild are about as good as winning the lottery.

This also depends on the condition of the coins. My estimates are for grades on the lower end.
Yeah, these are quite low, but I wouldn't pay much more myself. I only want something if I'm reasonably sure I can either sell it for more or it will be going up fairly soon.
And he that hath lyberte ought to kepe hit wel / For nothyng is better than lyberte / For lyberte shold not be wel sold for alle the gold and syluer of all the world. -Caxton's edition of Aesop's Fables, 1484
I follow your philosophy Aggressive; however, i'd hate to pass up the ability to buy a couple rare or uncommon cents for cheap and if i could start a small collection of dollars at the same time.
Does anyone think 60 is too little or too much? I feel most of you think this is either way too much or way to little.
