hi can someone please give me a good definition of the word "proof" when relating to coins as i have seen it in the contexts where it appears to
mean anything from genuine to shiny many thanks

I think this link does a good job explaining what proof coins are and what sets them apart, in the context ofcomparing proofs to uncirculated coins.
