Anyways, why do yall make a big deal about it anyways? I understand the part of paying for it myself and being ambitious. On the note of the truck, at least 40-50% of the vehicles in the student parking lot are $40-$50k plus. New Escalades, Z06 vettes, Jags, Mercedes. Some spoiled rotten kids, and it kinda makes me mad too. Most don't have to work for it. :(

You read way to much into what he said.

I think your way off base .

If that is the case in your area, it's a state law, or an insurance company thing, not a federal thing. Some states bring up the idea that a minor cannot enter into a contract, but I know for a fact that there are no age limitations for registering a vehicle in Pennsylvania. I bought my truck before I had a license.

Anyway, looks like you have a nice gig going with the detailing. There are a few places in my area that do that type of work, but they usually don't last more than a year or two. There are a limited number of vehicles that warrant that type of attention in this area . If you are able to do the work on-site or at home, the low overhead is a huge advantage.

It's good to see another young entrepreneur. I think I started filing sales tax returns when I was 14. I made bird houses out of scrap wood we had laying around and sold them at craft shows. Then worked with model trains throughout high school (and still handle them occasionally), and started The Copper Cave a little over a year ago. Also build and repair computers, lead the advanced tech support department at my college, and do the occasional yard work job. Currently an engineering student, so some day I'll have a 'real job'

Nate, I hope you aren't filing state sales tax for the bullion. The copper is tax exempt in PA. I called Harrisburg and stayed on the phone for about 45 minutes just to get the word right from the horse's mouth... all bullion and coins are tax-exempt in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

However, I do not know if tin or aluminum is considered "bullion"

What does common sense have to with the law? In North Dakota 16 years olds can have cars titled in their name. They can get their full unrestricted drivers license by the time they are 14 and a half.

Nope, I do not collect sales tax on any of the bullion, just on in-state sales of model trains (which are few and far between these days) or supplies such as coin flips and tubes. A whopping $27 due for the first half of 2009

Congrats on the job and good source to dump. That intake is gonna look sick when it's all done, I would love to see it. As you might gather from the 302 in my name, I am a bit of a mustang enthusiast as well. Mine is also an 89, with quite a few mods. I'm about ready to throw this T5 in the trash and step up to a TKO 500/600 though. The stock trans really blows when the cars been modded to a higher power level as I'm sure you must have heard before.

I don't think anyone was trying to be a dick or anything man. This is a really laid back forum with great people in it's membership. Not alot of "keyboard warriors" live on here, something that is rare to find nowadays. It can be sometimes hard to read into someones tone when all you can do is read words on a screen though. But yeah, congrats on everything and I would love to see the Stang! -Mike

I think getting an unrestricted lisecnse at 14 and a half is too young. My daughter just got hers about a month ago. We are not letting her drive much yet until she gets more experience with one of us in the car with her. And the way the winters are up here with the roads being slippery about six months out of the year it is tough enough for me to drive these roads sometimes.

You can't get a learner's permit in PA until age 16, then you have to have that a minimum of 6 months before you can take the driver's test for a license. Under 18 is a junior license, which prohibits driving between 11 pm and 5 am (unless required to do so for employment).

Back in the day I grew up in Idaho and had my license (and first truck that i paid for) @ 14 when that was legal. At the time, did not even need a drivers license to rocket down the street in a bone jarring, car crushing tractor. I don't think I called anyone Richard Noggin though. ;-)

The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; second is war. Both bring a temporary (and false) prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunities.

Maybe I read into it too much, Im sorry if I offended anyone. I naturally get defensive sometimes, and for that, I apologize.

Thanks for the kind comments. I work my *** off to be blessed with what I have. I love the truck. Tomorrow Im putting a set of 20" King Ranch wheels on with a 275/55. I think I will like that look better. The guy Im trading with is coming over at 7pm, so if it is still light outside I'll put up some pics.

natsb88: Congrats on the CopperCave. I happy to see Americans running a business despite having the lemon heads up on the hill and BHO and his out-of-his-*** policies and regulations.
The new dump spot is awesome!

In Texas, you need to be 16 to get your drivers license and 18 to enter a contract, get insurance in your name of any kind, and 18 to have a vehicle titled in your name.

School: I go to Keller High School in Keller Texas. A lot kids actually live in the west side of Southlake and in Westlake and come to Keller High. The other side of town where the older homes and businesses are go to a different school. Its kind of seperated. One of my good friends morgan just got a 2008 bmw 645. Yeah, her parents paid for it. One of the most rediculous things Ive ever heard of. The area has a lot of money in it. Around here, most peoples priorities are family, status (house car) and football. Even people who don't have kids come out to the games.

This is very good for me. With this kind of clientele, I have become very profitable, and thank God everyday for blessing me with this scenario I am in.

Sorry if I'm bragging or whatever. Im not a snot-nose kid. You were all kids my age at one time or another.

Peace

MCprice302: This is the car where I got my name from. I had been working on it myself for quite a while. It was an auto. I had the shortblock rebuilt (forged lower end) at Gearheads which came out as a 306. I installed AFR 185's, trickflow SH upper/lower, bbk 75mm t/b with 1" egr spacer, 80mm MAF and CAI. I also had GHP install a 3000 stall and shift kit. I had an MSD box put in it. I was going to put an E-cam in it. The exhaust was BBK equal length. I got an O/R BBK X-pipe and welded on some hollowed out cats (2) on the pipe. This through a set of 18" magnaflows I managed to fit under there (my dad helped me with this one.) The interior was trashed, so I replaced everything with OEM black interior parts with leather seats.

Well, on day I was traveling down a six lane road, in the inside lane. I had just gone through an intersection and some jerk pulled out all the way across three lanes of traffic right infront of me. I still had the stock breaks on the car. Well I ended up going into him. Heres a couple pics. Im going to get my dads 03 GT to play around with when its paid off in December. Im going to try out the new trickflow 2v heads and see how long the bottom end lasts. :p

Man, I hate to see that. I hope you don't give up on it though, it's still a beuaty! Just gives you a reason to get a cowl or mach-1 hood or whatever you want for it and come back even better! Lovin the chrome pony's too. I've got the 17x9 cobra R's, but they are really played out. So many people have them now ya know. Mine is also black (with primered 2.5 inch mach-1 hood at the moment), a 89 GT hatchback with grey interior and 3.73's, T5 five speed, trick flow twisted wedge heads, street heat intake as well, Lunati voodoo cam (part # LUN-61001LK) 1.6 ratio Harland Sharp roller rockers, BBK catless H-pipe and 1&5/8 headers, feeding into Flowmaster 40 series mufflers with turndowns. She's got a stock bottom end at the moment as the teardown showed acceptable tolerances everywhere, however I did bore and hone the cylinder walls .030 and installed sealed-power 10.1:1 forged pistons just to make sure that compression would be adequate. So far, the stock crank and rods have help up fine (knocking on wood coffee table).

Currently saving up to get it resprayed and maybe next year build that DSS 408 stroker/Paxton Novi 2000 combo I've been drooling over. A man can dream right!?

Good to see another stang owner on here, if you ever need anything for the car or possibly have something for sale, just let me know. -Mike

Man, fox bodies are my favorite style stang. People would be like, why the hell are you spending money on that junk? I would be the one laughing at them.

David, your missing out of an awesome car man. There light, reasonably affordable, and respond very well to mods. Gets pretty good gas mileage for a v8 too (in less tuned applications that is). Personally, I like the no nonsense look of the fox, but to each there own I suppose.

It's great to read of so many industrious people on this web site; especially, the younger crowd. To add my two cents to the mix, my son actually began filing/paying income tax when he was in second grade--his grandfather would jokingly thank him each month when he received his social security check for helping to keep the system going. He continued having to do this through his sixth grade year. Part way through that grade he decided that he no longer wanted to work and we stood behind his decision. It was his decision to begin working and his to stop. So, just before his 18th birthday, he was able to have a large down payment on a new car but because it was before he turned 18 he was not allowed to enter into a contract and the car and remaining financed balance had to be put into his father's name. In fact, in our state, at least at our bank, he could not even have his work checking account in his name. It had to be in my name for: his name.

89gt-stanger...I think he would greatly admire your abilities and seemingly love of car detailing. He loves to tinker on his car and helps out friends whenever he can through this hobby of his. Now if I could just get him interested in coins.......I guess a mom can't ask for everything.

Continued success.
