I've heard that their first offer is their lowball offer. They know what percentage of people will accept this low offer. However, if you call them back and state that you are disatisfied, they will offer you more money. Perhaps, even as high as 50% spot.  |

| I remember seeing on Nightline that the percentage changes according to the amount of gold you send in. If you send in a lot you can get something like 80% melt, but if it is only a little, the percentage drops off like crazy. |

But in a court of law, truth is a valid defense against libel claims. That was one of the first things we learned in my media law class:

True, yet many company's don't want the legal costs even if they are correct. Its cheaper to avoid the claim than to hash it out in court. And just because the written law states one thing does not mean a judge or jury will not rule otherwise. |
