I've heard that their first offer is their lowball offer. They know what percentage of people will accept this low offer. However, if you call them back and state that you are disatisfied, they will offer you more money. Perhaps, even as high as 50% spot.

This same topic as on the Kitco forum, and Cash4Gold sent kitco a letter claiming libel. You can't say anything about Cash4Gold on thatforum now.

But in a court of law, truth is a valid defense against libel claims. That was one of the first things we learned in my media law class:

I remember seeing on Nightline that the percentage changes according to the amount of gold you send in. If you send in a lot you can get something like 80% melt, but if it is only a little, the percentage drops off like crazy.

This one's also a beaut. After you click on the link, try to close the page and look at the really annoying javascript messages that pop up:

From cash for silver:

"More American Coins We
Pay Cash for:
1942-1945 War Nickel
1916-1945 Mercury Dime
1946-1964 Roosevelt Dime
1932-1964 Washington Quarter
1916-1947 Walking Liberty Half Dollar
1948-1962 Franklin Half-Dollar
Pre - 1964 Susan Anthony Dollars
Pre - 1969 Presidential Dollars PR69
Pre - 1969 Sacagawea Dollars
1878-1921 Morgan Dollar
1921-1935 Peace Dollar

True, yet many company's don't want the legal costs even if they are correct. Its cheaper to avoid the claim than to hash it out in court. And just because the written law states one thing does not mean a judge or jury will not rule otherwise.
