So I was out of town this week and decided to call all the coin dealers and see what they had from one town to the next. I focused on one town/day and cleaned out the dealers of their decent and good quality 90%. Was kind enough to leave all the slicks and culls for others. Then, knowing I was going to return home today via a pretty good sized city in the midwest I called the biggest dealer in town yesterday and asked if they had any 64 Kennedys. They told me they only had 6 rolls and would be glad to lock in the price for pickup later today.
So, I raced in today and picked up 3 AU and 3 BU rolls of Kennedy's for 10.4x face. They guy told me that his wife put them aside and had he known what was going on he would have quoted me 13x. He was cool and found a new customer. I think it was part of his strategy. Pretty smart idea too if you ask me. Impress someone and earn repeat business.
All of the other dealers I met with this week either inappropriately inappropriate languageed their know it all heads back and forth and made comments under their breath about why anyone would thumb through the 90% instead of just accept the mix blah blah blah...or else they were the type that were so backwards that they only had a 3 word vocabulary and hesitated to say anything.
All in all it was a good week and picked up a lot of rolls paying no more than 10.5x face. Getting through the airport was another fun experience. The TSA agent stopped the x-ray and called his other comrades over to take a look. After running it back through the machine 3 times I was escorted away for a "private screening". That was interesting as roll after roll was taken out on the table. One of the two agents commented that he has never seen such a massive density image go though their machine.

| I stop at my local coin shops every couple of weeks to go through the 90% coins. I spend an hour or two each time sorting through the buckets of coins looking for the cleanest and least worn coins and they never question me about it. |

That is right. I see someone else has been through the airport and had the special screening because of coins in the bag.
It is more frustrating to the screeners when they ask you waht you have and you tell them the truth. "Money, coins in rolls."
The last time this happened I got the look of, "Are you nuts, should we just ship you off to the funny farm, or let you out of my hair." |

| Getting searched at the airport for having so many coins....that used to happen to me all the time. Now I take them out of my suitcase and put them in the tub with my keys, bag of toiletry stuff, etc. They always stop to look, but I never get questioned any more. |
