Should I go for it? I've never invested in silve before, and have the opportunity for this.
I also have availability to .999 American Eagles and .9999 Maple Leafs, along with certified bars for $16/oz.
Good deals?

Okay, many replies. :)
Anyways, he is going to be sending me pics tonight, or early morning, when he gets off work along with some details. On a car related forum that I am on, I posted letting people know that I would like to buy silver.... blah blah blah.
Anyways, he said "Are you interested in silver dollars and sxxt like that? I have many assorted 90% coins I would like to get rid of for cheap."
We got to talking and he is fine with 6-7*fv. Yup yup! |

I honestly dislike 90% "hoarding" or "collecting" very much. You can not find anything in the wild in representable condition, and I think it is overpriced for what it is, not being pure. I think .9999 is going to be what I'm looking for.
Is Canada the only place that makes coins that are that pure?

| Canadian Maple is the only .9999 silver round I've seen. I've taken the 4th 9 as a showboat move than real material difference in quality. |

If you can afford, please don't pass on the 90%... Its such a no brainer... At least take delivery and sell it at the coin shop for instant profit...

I would buy everything he had for 6-7x face. I would borrow the money if I had to. you could sel it on here for 10X and be sold out within an hour.

I agree buy it and hold or resell your choice. Such a low price makes me wonder if these items are culls or hot...though this would not stop me from purchasing these items at a discount.

If you pass on this, your really missing out. It's not about what you like in this instance, it's how much you can make INSTANTLY with the buy. What's your hang-up with 90%? It's recognized with little question of purity, and with no problems reselling. It's not always what you want, it is what the other guy wants.
You admit to being new at the silver thing. Take our advise, buy and turn. You could sell it all here I'm sure. Profit on the 90% would buy you more .999 or .9999 it that's what you prefer.
The only problem would be moral issues if you think he stole it....

Slickeast, we may work out a deal. He was unable to send me pics yet due to having to end up working a back-to-back shift.
I am 99.9999% sure they are not stolen. They are coins he had handed down from family, and is a little strapped for cash. I actually know the person. Its a forum like this where everyone knows everyone.

If it was me, I wouldn't worry about pics. Even if you were buying 90% at 10-11 x, you are buying it as junk silver - not for its numismatic value. So, I'd jump on the deal before someone else comes along.
Personally, I am in a junk silver phase right now. So, I'm drooling over here!!!
