Hi all,

I don't know how many of you look for varieties and errors of the zincolns and or copper years. But I propose that a count be started for those that collect any of the following:

Wide AM's (1998,1999,2000)
Close AM's (1992 D non-proof)
DDO's (1995)
DDR (1983)

And any of them from the Copper years as well.

I'll gladly try to manage the count. And Pictures for these finds are also something I think we'd all like to have included with your find updates.

Think you have another variety not listed above. Post your find with a picture for verification and I'll add it! Please feel free to post any denomination, but note that only Penny error and varieties will be tallied and counted.

I have found about 5 2000 Wide Am's and 6 1998 Wide AM's. There has also been a guy on Coin Community that found a 1992 Philadelphia Close AM. I have also found a 1995 Doubled die. This is all this years looking at zincers for variety's

I've started looking,

6 60 small dats and 2 98 wams in the last week.

I am looking for the 84 doubled ear, 70s small date along with the others mentioned above.

I'll keep adding others as I can memerorize them...

I do keep this site up as I am looking.

I'm sitting on a roll of off center nickels, a 2000 struck through capped die, A native American $ with (some) missing edge lettering and a 2006 DDO4.

Hi FB101,

Sorry i'm not so quick on the IDing, but is the '06 DDO4 a penny or nickel? THis is where pictures would be very helpful and also fun to look at.

FYI for everyone posting different denominations indicate which is which, I may not know if it's a penny and I don't want to accidentally ignore your finds.

THanks,

Hmm...I have found probably 4 1998 wide AM's, 1 2000 wide AM, no DDO or DDR coins, no small dates that I remember, and 4 counterstamped LMC's with state and JFK designs.

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

I think you should all post pictures of your finds. Like the counter stamps. I don't think i've seen one of these before.

I'll have to check out coppercoins.com to see all the varieties.
Also I'll try to create a log tonight. But post and you will see the list soon enough.

POST PICTURES!

I have only recently started looking at errors/varieties but have only found a 1998 Wide AM to date. I am still lookign at most of them coins but geeze it sure does slow down the hand sorting operations!!

Hi Scotty,
I agree. I phase in and out of error sorring. Though it helps to sort all the coins at the start into what ever years your going for. THen the coppers are sorted out, and you can look through the remaining pennies by year. It gets a little faster eventually.

Hey guys, I have a question. I found a penny that when struck, it did not strike on center and has a lot of excess on one side. How much is this worth? I also have a penny that looks kind of like it missed the copper phase.

Can anyone give some guidance to finding those errors? It is really hard for me to tell if it is a wide AM or not

Hi Pennysaved,

If you are not really sure what to look for search near your computer and with the lincolncentresource.com page open to 'wide AM'. This will be a very good visual reference. Second, find a coin from the 1980's, Like a 1983 that looks to be AU. This will give you a heads up what to look for when you look for the spacing between the A and M in america. Coins up to 1991 should all have wideA-M's and can be used for a reference.

Daviscfad,
I would just start counting from here on in, if you are interested in having your finds be tallied. That's what i'm doing, just keeping score from what i find lately and in the future.

89gt-stanger,
What is alot of exess? Last year I purchased some off center pennies for $5. They were about %50 off center, and still had the dates. The date can be very important. Can you see the date, and what is it?

As for my tally I have found 2-1998 Wide A M's, 1-1999 Wide A M, and 7-2000 Wide A M's. I'm still looking for the 1992 close AM and will let you guys know when it stops hiding.

I only started sorting pennies around February, so they are all since then. I also look for the 84 doubled earlobe, and recently have started looking for the 1995 double die.
