I picked up a Brinks box on Tuesday, but only got around to sorting it today. It was kind of a strange box.

There were 52 BU (like, *shiny*) 1959-D cents and a few BU 1962-Ds. They were gorgeous, and I'm not even a fan of the LMC design. I set them aside.

I wonder how so many early year BU LMCs ended up in a single box. Anyone else ever seen this?

I wish I'd sorted the box earlier in the week so I could go back and get a couple more to see if there are more in them. I'll definitely go back Monday.

I had a few a while back like that. Got several rolls of "BU" 59P, 61P, 63P and 64P across about 4 boxes.

I recently found around 40 BU 1966's. I didn't think it was enough to seperate, so they went into my general batch of copper. Nice find, though.

I have been getting lots of BU 63's. Every box I get lately has a few in ever roll. Also, BU 1982's and they are all CU.

Weird! It's almost as if the Mint is releasing bags of them into the wild.

We are all finding these BU coins it seems. Too many versus other years comparing circulation amounts and given that it is over 40 years they were minted, you do the math. Gosh, there very well may be tons of sealed BU rolls of these suckers sitting in vaults. But where? LOL.

My guess is some people are being hit hard by the economy and are pulling coins out that have been stashed away for years. OR the coins were stolen from someones collection and put back into circulation.

Ant did that box come from a first citizens bank? I've gotten 2 boxes from them this week and found about the same as you did. Just curious.

I got it at a BB&T (Branch Banking & Trust) in Greensboro, NC.

I'm interested to see if this is the beginning of a trend -- I hope so.
