I hand sorted $8000 in half dollars, and all I found was this lousy 1915-S This is the first Barber Half Dollar that I've ever found.
That's a sweet catch. Congrats!

Today I got a Hong Kong 20 cent piece from 1978 in my pennies. What a whacked looking coin on sides. And WTF is QE2 doing on the reverse of this coin? Did England own Hong Kong? |
What's in it for the dude? |

Two coins same size as a Dime Cinco Centavos 1976 Mexican coin and a 1987 New Zealand one cent. Ended up short .90 cents on a $500 dollar bag found 8 silvers so the odd coins were OK |

Yes, well owned part and leased part. You must be logged in to see this link.
Those coins were generally withdrawn from circulation after the handover to China but I do not think they are particualarly rare and they remain legal tender today. It is a nice looking coin - not round right? |

I don't know what to call it...it's not octa, hexa, or penta, but it is cool though. |

Found a brass nik-o-lok toilet token last night. About the size of a dime.
EDIT: got a picture of it, and of a Riptide Arcade Token I also got. Both were from a cache of $542 in loose change.

I got a Swedish 10 Kronor from 1991 while searching nickels. It's thick and has alternate reeding on the edges and it's made out of "nordic gold", even though it doesn't actually have any gold in it. Face value for it is about $1.30! Also a (English?) Five Pence in a roll of dimes. |

Whoa Kiwi, that's odd! I found a copper (I forget exact year, in the 70's) penny that has the Free Mason symbol stamped on it. |

Not sure where to post this, but I found a 2010-P half today. It just seems early to find a coin that presumably someone paid a premium for just a few months ago. |

Today found in a string penny roll a 1994 jamaican dollar. Wondering if anyone has a picture to post and if anyone else has found one of these in a roll? |

no camera sorry, last nights nickels had an interesting find
it would appear that someone had 'milled out' most of the nickel . leaving a 'cup' that had been glued to something . what was left was the 'face' from 2006. |

Found a 1867 10 Centesimi coin with a picture of Vittorio Emanuele II King of Italy on the front in a NF String roll. It's roughly the same diameter as a Half, but a bit thinner. Might be worth a $1.00 in it's pretty good (I'd say Fine grade) condition. That's the oldest coin I've found (so far) in the wild and a nice addition to my "Oddities of Sorting Halves" pages. |
