I found a 1944 nickel without a mint mark. Does this seem possible? Has anybody else ran across anything like this?

| None come up on ebay listings. Are they collectible? I would think they should fetch a premium, like the racketeer nickels of 1883. |

Because they are counterfeits, they would not be permitted on eBay. I have seen them get around $30.00 in the past.

I'm sure there are LOTS of myths and rumours about his exploits.
in the 1850's I could believe the mint use 'good blank planchets',
but I can't believe that they would have used them in the 1950's, post WWII patriotism and all. |
